Firestar-the best super heroine
Firestar (Angelica "Angel" Jones) is a fictional mutant superhero in the Marvel Comics Universe. She has the ability to generate and manipulate microwave radiation, which allows her to generate intense heat, flames and to fly. She has been a member of the Hellions, the New Warriors and The Avengers. Firestar has the ability to absorb, generate and manipulate microwave radiation.

She can focus microwaves on a specific target, and cause it to burst into flame, explode or melt. She can also sense microwave signals (such as cell-phone signals or remote-control devices) and disrupt electronics with her own microwave emissions. Firestar has also been able to disrupt the psionic powers of others using her own powers.

I really enjoyed investigating Firestar, because I personally believe she’s one of the best super heroines. She has all the characteristics, powers, abilities and personality, that a super heroine needs. Apart from that a few number of people know her. I think that if you had the opportunity of being a super heroine, you’d probably like to be Firestar.

Rocky IV’s sport
In Rocky IV film, there is a lot of training and fights. In my opinion Rocky’s films are very aggressive and that’s why Rocky’s wife worries a lot. We can say that boxing a combat sport in which two participants of similar weigh fight each other in series of one to three minutes intervals called rounds.
Boxing becomes from marcial arts, that are codificated practices that have a same objective, that is to defend yourself (from my point of view, boxing is refered only to prize fight), by using different tactics that put opponent in an inferior situation. Marcial art is different to street fight, because it has got a coherence system and it has much more order.
Victory is achieved (in boxing) if the opponent is knocked down and he/she can’t get up before the referee counts to ten (k.o. means knocked down), or if the opponent is too injured to continue (t.k.o. means too knocked down).
To sump up, boxing is bad for your body and it’s only played to get more money, without taking care of the body, besides, it’s very aggressive. One good reason is that some people take it as fun or only do bets

Supergirl
Hi I’m Catalina Zazkin, and this year we worked with super heroes and I chose to work with Supergirl. We looked for information on the web and wrote about her powers, costumes and characteristics.
Well Supergirl was born in May 1959 on Argo city (Krypton planet) her parents were Zor-El a scientist and her mother Alura who originally gave Supergirl her fashionable costume .The costume is a red skirt, a blue T-shirt, a red cape, and high-heeled boots; on her chest she has a big letter “S” on a yellow field. Her powers are identical to Superman.
I personally think that she has a strong personality and I’m sure it’ll be interesting for you to know more about her.

ROCKY IV

This is an action film because of the violence of the fight and the training. Rocky was the story of a modest person who wants to escape from his other life. Fifteen years ago he was a man with no fortune working for a small time loan shark on the south side of Philadelphia. when he had the chance to enter the ring against “reigning champ” Apolo Cried, it was the million to one shoot of a life time. And all he wanted was to go the distance. His courage an perseverance, both in life and in the ring, gave hope to millions. In his heart he was a fighter.

Rocky changes changes with the years, is very diferentnt than the three first. Is like a jump forward the time for adapting to the new technologies and to the music of the moment, the techno. The movie had electronic tone. the first five movies were great, but the last two were mostly bad.

The movie was very interesting, mostly the part of the fight, but, the film did not have the essence of Rocky. We think that Silvester can change some parts, however is great. Of course the film were not the same without Special Effects, the director, the production and the actors (it was more difficult to do a film in the Rocky IV times).

To sum up, there are a big number of reasons for you to see the movie.

Cyber Girl
I’m Milagros Loustau and this year in my level, intermediate, we worked on “superheroes”, and each one of my class had to choose one. I chose “Cyber Girl”.

CyberGir is a super heroine; she has a TV series which started in 2001. Her real name is Ashley Campbell. She is from other planet. Her powers include super-human strength, super-human speed, and ability to interface directly with electronics things, like computers. Her villains are Xanda and Isaac, those are Cyber Replicates, and they also appear in the series. She later uses her powers to look more human. She meets Jackson and Hugh Campbell, who takes her in, and she adopts the name “CyberGirl”. The only person besides Hugh and Jackson who knows her identity is Kat, her niece.

In my opinion I think this super heroine is fantastic because she has fantastic powers, like super human speed, TV series and a movie, she uses her powers to look more human as well, she has two villains who are like her, and those are Cyber Replicates. She is very original; I’d describe her like a superhero form a new generation.

The Oscar Awards

As we can see, The Oscar Awards is a very important ceremony in the films world. I guess when you win a statuette; it makes you feel that you can do everything if you trust on yourself.
The five categories each represent the original branches of the academy: actors, writers, directors, producers and technicians. The official name of the Oscar’s statuette is the academy award of merit; it’s made out of gold plated titanium on a black metal base.
The name Oscar is because of a Bette Davis’ biography in where she named the Oscar after her first husband. Another origin is the one of the academy secretary Margaret Herrick who was the first to see the award in 1931 and made reference reminding her uncle Oscar.
All members of the movies business must be invited to the Oscars, the invitation comes from the board of the governors on behalf of the academy branch executive committee. Since 79th annual academy awards, 847 members of the screen actors guild have been nominated for an Oscar. The major awards are given out in a live televised ceremony, most commonly in February or March and six weeks after they announce the nominees.
The Oscar awards were first televised on N.B.C. in 1953 then continued like this until 1960 when the ABC network took place televising the award up to 1970 and then in 1976 they made a contract up to the year 2014.
In my opinion, I think that this show awards is a good way to make the actors and directors, concentrate more on their films.

Sabrina, the Teenage Witch
Hi! I’m Micaela Meli and I’m going to write about our workshop. Intermediate’s topic this year was “Super Heroes” and we worked on the characteristics, life and powers, of each of them. I personally decided to investigate about “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”. Her real name is Melissa Joan Hart; she was born on 18th of April in 1976 in New York.
She has worked on T.V for a long time. She has made a film too, which is similar to the comedy that is shown on T.V. In the comedy she is a teenage witch, who has powers, but she makes the powers in secret.
I’ve chosen to describe her because she’s a really unusual person.

Hi! My name’s Nayla Eliseche andI’m 14 years old.
I’m going to talk about Zatanna Zatara.

Zatanna

Zatanna Zatara is a fictitious character of DC comics, ex-member of league of justice. It was created by Gardner Fox and Murphy Anderson.

History of Zatanna

The history begins when the famous magician John Zatara (her father), knows Sindellla (her mother) they fell in love and had a daughter to whom they named Zatanna. Soon after being born the baby’s mother disappeared mysteriously and died. After several years she began to shake papers and found an old note book inherited of the very same Leonardo Da Vinci (ancestor of the family), and a newspaper of the father who reveals his days like defender of justice, thanks to the old book, Zatara could do "true magic" spelling the spells. Fascinated, she suspected that she could also make acts of real magic, she pronounced a spell the other way around and managed to ignite with his words the fire of the chimney. When she recovered of the surprise, she decided to use his new powers to find his father, without suspecting that it will take her many years. League of Justice was the best thing that happened to her. She contacted a group of formed Superheroes, American league of justice and asked for their help.
Finally, Zatanna found her father (John Zatara), with the knowledge deception that his father had exiled himself to another dimension voluntarily. But immediately it discovers that a wizard, Allura, had bewitched him with a curse of which, if he watched at his daughter’s
eyes both would die. With the force that they give them the love and the magic, father and daughter overcame the witch, return to meet after years and together they visited the quarters of the league to thank for the received aid.
I believe that Zatanna is a very pretty heroine with an intriguing story. I’ve personally liked magicians since I was a child.

Films related to music and bands.
When a band has been for fifteen or more years together it can make a film. Those films can last between two and a half hours or even more!
The bands know when they’re being filmed in order to make a movie. But in the case of Green Day, they didn’t know they were making a film so they acted naturally, which is better because they are like always, they show their real themselves. But in the band The Police for example they already knew they were gonna make a film so they probably didn’t act naturally.
These films ain’t only a concert, ain’t only music, these films are also an interview to the band members and other scenes that were before the band went to the show or when the band is walking in the street or even in their houses.
As I see it these films are really cool but I think it’d be better if the band that’s making the film doesn’t know that it’s actually performing it.
